Customer

We are working on designing the world's best caller ID and spam-blocking service for Android and iOS. Our mission is to identify new opportunities and build the next big thing. We work and operate like a well-functioning startup, transferring product ideas from zero to one. From generating ideas to making product decisions, from development to release, working with a talented cross-functional team. The app provides a lot of features with positive social impacts like protecting people from fraud, harassment, and scams, calls, and messages, identifying new numbers from anywhere in the world. The app is used by over 250 million people around the world and is growing very rapidly across regions.

Project

A challenging project realized together with a vibrant and talented client team. We build a modern cloud service operating scalable stream processing workflows in popular open-source frameworks. The project is developing dynamically. There is a strong and experienced team that we augment. We are looking for a person who is also much experienced, likes challenges, and is biased toward actions.

Responsibilities

• Building a reliable system while having the ability to move fast

• Kafka clusters management (prod/dev) and Spark (~400 nodes)

• GKE cluster management and deployments (prod/dev)

• GCP cloud management with IaC (Terraform/Deployment Manager)

• Monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana

• Implementing and executing policies aligned to the strategic plans of the company to use technologies, work organization, etc.
• Creating and propagating standards of work in projects
• Undertaking work that requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts
• Contributing to the organization's knowledge database

Technologies used:

• Google Cloud Platform
• K8s: GKE (Helm, kubectl)
• Apache Kafka
• Apache Spark
• CI/CD: Jenkins/ Bitbucket

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform management 
• Familiarity with Deployment Manager/Terraform/Ansible
• Good knowledge of Apache Kafka 
• Strong monitoring skills with Prometheus Alertmanager
• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins or Bitbucket)
• Experience with Kubeflow/Airflow/BigQuery would be a plus
• Programming skills in Scala/Python would be a plus
• Understanding complexity and relationships between businesses, suppliers, partners, competitors, and clients
• Enthusiastic and passionate about working on the product and contributing to delivering the best technical solutions to user’s problems
